# Run a light check

> Submit a public website and safely use the free launch-readiness check.

## Before you start

Use a production URL that anyone can reach over public HTTP or HTTPS. Do not submit a private preview, staging site, local address, URL with credentials, IP address, or non-standard port.

The light check uses capped, low-impact requests. If your bot protection blocks it, allow the descriptive Launch Ready user agent for safe GET requests.

## Run the check

1. Enter the site URL on the homepage.
2. Keep the progress window open while the check completes.
3. Open the public report and start with the highest-severity finding.
4. Deploy a focused fix, then run another check.

No account or access token is needed for a light check.

## Next step

A report is a prioritized review, not a launch certificate. Read the evidence and the recommendation before changing the site. See [Understand a report](/docs/getting-started/understand-a-report) for result meanings and [Safety and limitations](/docs/methodology/safety-and-limitations) for the scan boundary.
